After a few songs from Erica Marshall from the As One Voice digital archive, I’ll do a few from Peter Grant. I have done quite a few of his songs over the years and they are all now available to be purchased for download at as One Voice.
He sourced the text for this hymn from Psalm 24, Matt 8:9 and John 8:12. It will suit many liturgies, but it is especially appropriate for Lent and for Reconciliation. It is most singable with a gap for breathing before the triplet flourish near the end of the verses… very considerate.
You can purchase the sheet music from As One Voice.
There is an instrumental sound sample at AOV, but that didn’t stop me making my own version on BIAB.
Refrain
Teach me your ways, O Lord, and I will follow you,
All of my days O Lord; teach me your ways.
1 Make me know your ways, O Lord. Teach me your paths,
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
For your are God my Saviour.
2 Keep in mind your mercy, Lord, and faithful love.
In your love remember me, Lord,
Because of your great goodness.
3 Turn to me, O gracious Lord; free me from sin.
Guard my life and rescue me, Lord,
My only hope is in you.
4 Teacher I will follow you, wherever you go;
never more to walk on darkness,
You are the light of my life.
