Take and Eat This Bread G3 928

I have found a run of Eucharist songs that I haven’t already covered from Gather 3rd edition.

Francis Patrick O’Brien is an American composer who is not one used often in churches in Australia at which I have played. I suppose we have our own priest-composers.

This is a communion song, although I’m struggling to see the specific application for Advent mentioned at GIA, where you can buy the sheet music. The text is on page nine of this handout.

I dragged out the wind up BIAB church organ for this one.

In GIA’s preview of the full music version, there are extra verses for Advent and Christmas that aren’t in the hymnal. They have a “liturgical note” that if the communion procession is long, you could use those seasonal verses (they aren’t overly seasonal) or “even newly created” verses.

      Thanks Ryan.

I’m coming across songs that appear well used in the US but less known in Australia, so I am very happy to hear about their use.
