Years ago I wanted the sheet music to a song by Marty Haugen called “The Hand of God Shall Hold You”. I found it in a folio called “All Are Welcome” and started using that song as well.
I haven’t looked at the other songs in the collection much, but I have heard them because I bought the cassette – it was a long time ago – and I’m going to make backings for them to sing along and learn the songs.
Haugen has written a song of praise that is particularly apposite for a Sprinkling Rite.
This song is mostly for a cantor with the assembly repeating phrases. It isn’t so hard that the assembly couldn’t do all of it but it does make the repetitions sound odd. It is worth noting that Haugen has a least two other settings of this text.
The sheet music can be purchased at GIA, where the text is in their sample.
