The Thirsty Cry for Water, Lord [Stuempfle Jr. / SAINT FLAVIAN]
These are interesting times. Here in the US, many dioceses (including my own) have issued dispensations from Sunday mass obligation due to the coronavirus. Apparently my parish issued a dispensation from music because we didn’t have any music at all. I’d say we had somewhere between half and two-thirds of our normal attendance at the Saturday vigil mass this week.
The cathedral’s school where I teach is shut down for three weeks by order of the governor. They had the following planned for the family mass. I assume they still had music but maybe not. In any case, this is what was planned:
Gathering: I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say (Bonar; KINGSFOLD)
Gifts: Come to the Water (Foley)
Communion: Tree of Life (Haugen)
My Soul Is Thirsting (Joncas)
Closing: Forty Days and Forty Nights (Smyttan; HEINLEIN)
