We’ve been using the communion antiphons since Advent, and I’ve been enjoying them them. At this point, we are just using them at the beginning of communion before a full song.
So far, they all seem very singable. It has been interesting to hear them over the weeks. The composers wrote a number of basic musical structures and fit different words to them for the different texts. This was most obvious during Advent when all four weeks had the same musical structure for the communion antiphons.
