Mother Dear, O Pray For Me GAB 324

This is a nineteenth century Irish prayer to the BVM by Isaac B. Woodbury that appears to have been a song for young people.

I can’t see it being used in the present time in these parts.

Background information and the text are at Godsongs. Hymnary have scans of the sheet music. Sheetmusicplus have a full arrangement.

One Response to Mother Dear, O Pray For Me GAB 324

I almost always tear up when I hear this song. I remember it from my First Holy Communion Day, over 60 years ago. When I hear this, I can picture my Mum and Dad with me in Church on that special day. We used to sing a lot of hymns to Mother Mary then, but no so much now – sad.
