Rex Urbano and the choir at Our Lady Of Fatima, Acacia Ridge are marking Mary MacKillop’s feast day tomorrow by singing Gary Pinto’s song about the saint.
You can hear Gary Pinto’s version here. The sheet music is available here. It goes very high and can just about be sung down an octave. My backing only uses the MIDI voices on BIAB and since the sheet music is out there I’ll put a link for the MIDI file as well.
VERSE 1
In sacrifice, You lived your life
And in God’s Will, You found your delight.
Child of God, Bride of Christ
Djurumin and shining light.
Through the Cross you show hope to everyone
Shining in the heart of the great southern land.
CHORUS
Saint Mary is your name
The angels rejoice.
Through your life you proclaimed
the Name above all names.
Helper of the poor
Mother of the lonely
Pray for us.
VERSE 2
You Lifted the head
Of fallen ones.
Raising them up, you helped them to stand.
With all your heart
You served The Lord.
And through God’s Love
You cared for the poor.
Through the Cross you show hope to everyone
Shining in the heart of the great southern land.
CHORUS
BRIDGE
And the heavens sing
Alleluia, Jesus reign.
Oh, children of the world shall sing
Alleluia
St Mary pray for us.
Saint Mary is your name
The angels rejoice.
Through your life you proclaimed
The Name above all names.
CHORUS
Pray for us {“Mary MacKillop, Mary MacKillop”}
(Repeat phrase as needed)
Pray for us

I was wondering if was able to download the backing track so I could use it for my choir at school at Mater Dei Blakehurst.

Anne
I’m happy for you to use any backing track on the site, Anne. Let me know if you have a problem with the download link.
Geoff
Hi Geoff,
The download link opens the song to play on my computer but how do I actually download it so I can save it?
Anne

You should be able to right click on the link and select “save as’ or “save link as”.
Geoff

I absolutely love and adore this song and video clip. I teach in a Josephite College and I play this most mornings as part of our prayer. We practically know all the words now and sing it at the top of our lungs!! I have to really hold back the tears each and every time though! I just can’t help but get emotional xx
Hi! looking to play this song for a Mass next week – the links to the sheet music above all lead to a SoSJ page, and I was just wondering if you could possible email me the file?
G’Day Nicholas
I’m afraid a lot of links on my old posts have gone stale.

I’m afraid not, Nicholas.
can you email me the link
G’Day, Matt.
The sheet music is still there at the link in the post.
The backings will download if you right click on them.
I hope that helps

Hi Geoff
Michael Herry has also written Mary MacKillop music in the form of an album called on Penola’s Plains. We have used Woman of Today on the feast day before which is quite lovely. The music is available from the Marist website or by googling Woman of Today Michael Herry so that the album comes up. The music was free from the site.
Donna.
Thanks, Donna.
Herry is a one man industry with so much useful liturgical music for free.
It is a lovely text and he set it to THAXTED by Holst, which is such a great tune.
As you say the sheet music is here:
