Let’s Go Therefore

Erwin Cabucos is an Australian songwriter who writes great songs that have liturgical uses, in this case, obviously, for sending forth. He asks us to to be the face of Christ as we take our faith into the world. He is inspired by Matthew 28 for his text.

The line “all nations and peoples” might be better with a longer “all” and moving “nations” and “peoples” over the bar lines to take the emphasis off the “-tions” and “-ples” syllables. While he is certainly not the only song writer guilty of it, it might also be better to have verses with less variation to trip us up.

He likes hard keys too! This one is in B so Capo 2 for us guitarists and swearing for keyboard players.

The sheet music can be purchased at sheetmusicplus.

My backings have a different feel to his, but that is just how I interpret his lovely music through BIAB.

1 Let’s go and quell the spell of fear today.

Make our actions speak the words of God.

Let our courage mend our troubled world.

Knowing that all things are possible with God.

Chorus

Let’s go therefore and make disciples from all nations and peoples.

Show them how beautiful the faith, the joy and meaning of life.

2 Let’s go and show that Jesus cares for all.

Give hope and love and faith, our Christian call.

Bless the heart that yearns for peace and strive.

Spend time and hear the tales of joy and life.

Chorus

3 Let’s go and breathe the freshness of our earth.

Clear the smog that shrouds the atmosphere.

Be fair to all creations great and small.

Respect our home that God gave us to care.

Chorus

Hi, please I need and ask your help to find a traditional hymn accompaniment (shhet music or chords) book in Sydney. I have As One Voice chords but Im looking for more traditional hymns, Living Parish, Gather Australia, Catjolic Worship Book or similar. Any leads?

It looks like Catholic Worship Book II is out of print, which should really be your resource.

If you are looking for sheet music for public domain traditional hymns, may I suggest the Liturgyshare website. Chris has an abundance of sheet music there:
      https://liturgyshare.org/Hymns.html

For chords of traditional hymns a second hand copy of Together in Song is worthwhile. I saw this somewhat overpriced one on AbeBooks:

Of course Worship 4 from GIA would likely have everything you want if you want it as a physical hymnal.

Otherwise you could look for an old dusty box in a dark storage room in the back of most Catholic churches, you never know.

I hope this helps – do contact Chris at Liturgyshare though:

He knows more than I in this area.

      cheers

      • I was quite shocked at the CWB2 news, but it appears that the publishers have gone out of business as their website has gone. I hope ACBC hold all the licenses and can move to another publisher, but it’s probably not a cheap or straight-forward thing to do.

Accompaniments for traditional style hymn tunes are generally easy to find, either on my site or elsewhere, but I only have public domain lyrics. Copyrighted texts can be a bit more problematic, particularly if you want melody-line editions, as some of the non-Catholic publishers, such as Hope Publishing, anticipate congregations singing in harmony, which is not exactly the situation in any of our churches!

A list with most of the hymn contents of CWB2 with hymn tune names and links to my accompaniments can be found at https://liturgyshare.org/CWB2.html. I need to add some links to sources for the others.

There’s another accompaniment option besides Worship IV, though not as comprehensive, and that’s OCP’s Heritage Missal. It’s much cheaper, at $US59, and is a downloadable, NON-PRINTABLE file, so only useful if you can play off a tablet. It contains around 300 hymns (not all traditional style) and around 300 other items such as Mass and psalm settings. They have a preview pdf on their site, though for some bizarre reason it is described as Video-VHS! https://www.ocp.org/en-us/collections/dg/13/heritage-missal-accompaniment-books. Unfortunately, OCP only include melody-line editions of the lyrics on OneLicense of hymns that are either public domain or copyrighted to themselves.
