I quite like both lyrics and tune. One advantage of these metric texts is the ability to use them with other and perhaps better known tunes. In this case, the lyrics can be downloaded from OneLicense (a useful tool for things other than just reporting copyright usage) and an alternate Long Metre tune chosen such as O WALY WALY, which I think works well. Having said this, I would prefer to use a more unique tune if I thought the text would be reused on a regular basis.

I grew up with metrical texts in the Presbyterian church and I our organist seemed to get by with only a handful of tunes.
