Eagle’s Wings

I’m sure I have played this song at church in the past but I’ve never blogged it here. He based it on Exodus 19:4. Like many of his songs Fr Andersen suggests the verses aren’t suitable for the assembly, but that hasn’t stopped anyone.

It has an obvious use in funerals and the chorus is suggested as a psalm response.

In the big book I have, he suggests that when singing the chorus we express the “sweep and swing of the soaring eagle that is built into the music.”

Antiphon:

I have carried you on eagle’s wings!
I will care for you in all your years!

My heart is full of peace;
You have been within my life!
Your guiding hand has always covered me
I am full of confidence in You! Antiphon

My soul is like a child,
Cradled safe within your arms!
You have carried me across my years!
Leading me thru’ sorrow and thru’ joy. Antiphon

You have bridged the flowing streams,
And moved aside the mountains tall!
You have kept me through the stormy past
I know that you secure and guide me still! Antiphon

Never need I be afraid!
No matter how uncertain things may be!
Sometimes thru’ me, sometimes in spite of me,
You seem to find your purpose in my life! Antiphon

I know failure in my life
The weakness so central to my heart!
When I have strayed or fallen in my life
You gently set me on my feet again! Antiphon

I am involved with the Cursillo Movement in Brisbane and we normally sing this song at any gathering. It is more of a theme song for the Brisbane Cursillo movement I guess.
Whilst we are in Covid -19 lockdown, we, as the Brisbane Cursillo Movement, have been having our gatherings on Zoom. We would dearly like to use Frank’s Eagles Wings as a Youtube at the gatherings and am therefore seeking permission from Framk to use the Youtube clip in the Zoom service and maybe if approval is given by Frank, also as a Youtube video of the gathering itself although I am unsure whether this latter will occur. It is just to be on the safe side, should the committee decide they would like to publish it on Youtube.
As our next Zoom Gathering is set for the 18th July, I would be delighted if a response could be received by early in July.

    Blessings,
    Ian

    HI,
This song was played by a SMSM nun for Masses at our school in the mid 80s, now my son plays piano for our Parish and I’ve been searching for a music sheet so he can play in church.
Please could you help direct me of where to purchase a music sheet.
    Regards
    Mary
