Desire

I’m having a good time with the emmanuelworship collection fifteen doing backings in styles most unlike theirs.

This one is by Dominic Dougherty and suggests he has been indulging in the fourteenth century English mystics. I’m a big fan of The Cloud of Unknowing but he may have been reading Rolle’s The Fire of Love. It is a slow burn praise and worship song that doesn’t get as noisy as some of their songs.

The sheet music is free at their site.

I nearly went cross eyed getting all the syncopation entered a note at a time and I suspect I have not got it 100%. My backing is fairly restrained.

1 God, I feel you next to me.

God, I feel the warmth against my skin.

God, I feel your call within me, burning deeply, consuming my heart.

2 God, I know your love for me.

God, I know you died so I could live in you.

I know you have a plan, so I can stand in you and not apart.

Chorus

Desire, it’s burning up inside, calling me to life, a life of praise.

And I, dedicate my life to your cause, your light, to bring you praise.

Verse 1

Chorus

Bridge x2

As I open up, I am overwhelmed,

I’m flooded by the want to know your more.

And as you come to me, God you give me rest,

And I’m flooded by the want, to know you more.

Chorus
