Blessing Song aka We Bless You, Lord, For This Gift of Bread CWB I 628

There is no misprint in the title, this is from Catholic Worship Book I. It is also in The New Living Parish Hymn Book 269.

It is a charming 70s song for Eucharist from Mark Arnold. Brett was looking into copyright for it and it resides with the author whom we don’t know how to find. I’ll put it out there for anyone who might know a bit more about the song and its author. Being in the two hymn books noted suggests an Australian songsmith.

    Hi

Did you ever locate the copyright to this song. I used it many times since the 70’s and would like to use it again, but with the current licensing considerations I am conscious of the need to ensure we stay within the limits.

    cheers

Sorry, Ed, I still have no idea.
It is not on One Licence as you probably already know. When the copyright rests with an author who is untraceable, there seems little chance of getting into trouble, however many parishes have blanket rules now that say no licence no play.

It’s a pity as it is lovely.

      cheers

Hi Ed, the copyright information I have is:
Mark Arnold, 1971, “Travelling to Freedom”, Living Parish Series Publishing, Sydney
      Hope this helps.

I am so pleased to hear people sensitive about copyright for this song. Mark Arnold is a close friend. I know this is a late reply, but if you wish to contact me, I am happy to pass your message on. Thank you

      G’Day Anne

I you have a chance to let him know people are still interested in his song and would like to know how to approach it from a copyright perspective, it would be appreciated.

      cheers

      Geoff
