They do a whole lot of Advent songs at RS’s parish that are new to me, but appear popular in the US.
One of them is this stately songĀ is by Dan Schutte and it is a wonderful tune for Advent and Christmas.
Cantus Mundi have posted the text and some YouTube clips for us. The sheet music can be purchased at OCP.
BIAB does some pretty good backingĀ piano improvising here:

Our choir has heard this beautiful song and would like to sing it this coming advent. Where could I buy a midi for this song or perhaps BIAB can sell its improvised backing piano? Please let me know as I am very much interested for our choir.
Somehow started looking up new (to me) Dan Schutte songs on YouTube today and discovered that this song is nearly identical to his other (older?) song Before the Sun Burned Bright. Just a few occasional differences in rhythm and pitch in the refrain.
Your right, Ryan. I note that on both these songs there are multiple copyright dates going back to 1970 so I think he has retreaded his own tune that goes back to 1970. There may be another text from 1970 that was its original lyric.
cheers
