The crew from our parish that went to the APMN conference were very impressed with Marty Haugen’s “Be Merciful” that he introduced to us all. We will use it from next weekend and I suspect it will be in high rotation for the Year of Mercy. The sheet music did indeed arrive in time.
It is from a collection called Here Among Us and you can hear a sample of the song here and purchase the sheet music at GIA. You can preview the text at the GIA page for the sheet music.
Here’s my backing to help with learning the piece:
Yes, we purchased the ‘Here Among Us’ music & CD collection while at the APMN conference. I say Be Merciful will be on our lists to teach after Christmas. I used ‘A Cloud of Great Witnesses’ already for All Saints this year, I am looking at doing ‘Here Among Us’ for Christmas as a solo – maybe at Prep of Gifts. Our parish already knows ‘If We Have Died To Ourselves In Jesus” so we just need to pop the new words for the verses in and we are right for our next sprinkling rite for Baptism of the Lord.
