Purpose
I've worked my way through the As One Voice books and other collections making backings on Band in a Box to help me (& you if you're interested) learn new songs for church. This is aimed at churches and musicians that own the collections but haven't exploited them fully. If you don't have them they are certainly worth buying. This site is educational, nonprofit and designed to enhance the commercial prospects of songwriters. This site does not distribute copyrighted sheet music.Disclaimer
Any opinions expressed here are personal views and not the responsibility of any Church.
All music backings posted are created by myself and the intention is for them to be used to learn the songs. If any copyright holder wishes me to cease publicising and promoting their wares and directing people to where sheet music can be legally purchased please let me know.Mason’s “Mass of Glory and Praise”
To access my backings for Paul Mason's mass go to Feb 2011 in the archive.-

I Will be the Vine G3 872
More Liam Lawton goodness from Gather 3rd Edition, this time based on John 15:5-14 and so suitable for Easter 5B and 6B where those readings come up. There are harmony lines in the refrain and a descant in the third … Continue reading

There Are Many Rooms G3 867
One of the songwriters that I am finding amongst the works in Gather 3rd edition not already covered elsewhere in my blog is Liam Lawton. Obviously huge in Ireland, he hasn’t been a feature in parishes I have played at … Continue reading

The Trumpet in the Morning G3 864
This song is on the theme of the second coming, but is very much a proclamation of social justice and would work in Advent. It is from Gather 3rd edition and the text is by Rory Cooney, based on passages … Continue reading

O Holy City, Seen of John G3 863
This song is in the “Second Coming” section of Gather 3rd ed., with text by W. Russell Bowie from Revelation 21 and set to MORNING SONG. GIA sells it as a concertato but notes that the brass quartet is optional. … Continue reading

On That Day G3 862
Continuing my look at songs from Gather 3rd edition that I haven’t already got around to here, I have come to the section called “Second Coming”, in which I find this gospel styled song by Kate Cuddy called “On That … Continue reading

We Arise G3 854
I have really enjoyed all the Michael Mahler songs I am coming across in Gather 3rd Edition. This is a song “with a gentle groove” for morning prayer or suitable liturgies (eg Easter). Mahler was obviously a prodigy and has … Continue reading

Singing God’s Praise in Church
My amazing brother, Dr Michael Madden PhD, has written a booklet about music in Church which can be purchased at Amazon. I won’t review it per se, as I am not qualified to comment too much. The issues revolve around … Continue reading

Christ Has Promised to Be Present G3 851
This song turned up in Gather Comprehensive and here in Gather 3rd edition. It is a gathering song by Rae E. Whitney set to STUTTGART. Gather only has a handbell arrangement available, likely because STUTTGART is too well known to … Continue reading

Uyai Mose / Come All You People G3 849
Having covered an awful lot of GIA songs over the years, those in Gather 3rd edition that I haven’t got to are sometimes songwriters with little traction on Australia, but often those songs from other cultures that an Australian assembly … Continue reading

Come to Us G3 842
Rory Cooney is not someone whose work has got much traction in Australia, and have covered him here when his work has turned up in requests from overseas for the most part. But he must be a big deal in … Continue reading
