This song added to Breaking Bread for 2023, although it isn’t new, is a gospel styled gathering song that also has verses provided so it can be used a Gospel Acclamation. The music is by Ken Canedo and he had help with the text from Bob Hurd.
Unless your assembly has an affinity for gospel music I’d leave to choirs and Americans.
This one is actually in Breaking Bread twice now… It’s been in the Mass parts section forever as part of the Mass of Glory, but with the new Missal translation in 2011, the original “Give the glory and the honor to the Lord” in the refrain was dropped in favor of only using the word “Alleluia.” Now it returns with its original refrain as a “gathering” song.
In practice, the parishes I’ve visited that use Mass of Glory still use the old refrain for the gospel acclamation.
Thanks, Ryan
I suppose as an OCP insider he gets to double dip.
